At Jerico, we believe that true environmental stewardship must be embedded into every facet of a business. Sustainability isn’t a side project or a marketing tool—it must be at the core of everything you do. Many companies will commit to donating a percentage of sales to environmental initiatives or plant a certain number of trees for every purchase. But these actions often don’t address the environmental impact of their actual business. At Jerico – we’ve designed our entire business model from sales through production with deep environmental consideration.
We have consolidated all aspects of our manufacturing processes within the Greater Toronto Area. This eliminates the unnecessary shipping of supplies across international borders, which ultimately reduces our transport costs and carbon emissions. We use state-of-the-art knitting machines to reduce energy consumption, our dye house uses trifunctional dyes to reduce our water consumption by 45% and our cutting and sewing departments recycle upwards of 10% of our textile waste. Even our offices understand the correlation between environmental concern and financial savings - we reuse all the envelopes from our incoming mail and all our printing is done on old invoices. Anyone who's received an order from us will notice that our boxes don't say Jerico. That's not a mistake. We use second-hand boxes. It saves us money and it's good for the environment. It may not be the most glamorous way to do business, but we believe it's the right way.
In addition to scrupulous recycling and consolidation, we continue to expand our eco-friendly collection. Over 50% of our line is now made from environmentally fibers including organic cotton and bamboo. Using GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified fibers guarantees that our textile products are made from certified organic raw materials and that all stages of processing, from harvesting to manufacturing and labeling, adhere to strict environmental and social guidelines.
Jerico is a green company. We integrate sustainability into everything we do, from the products we make to the way we operate, because we believe it's not just the right choice—it’s the only choice.
